STOP DEFENDING TABLEEGHI JAMAAT!
People providing soft cover to Tableeghi Jamaat say:
Q: Why did the police not ban their event?
A: Well, police should have done that. It failed. However, all the crimes are failure of police and that doesn’t absolve criminals.
Q: Why were they not stopped at the airport?
A: Well, we don’t know when exactly they entered India. Also, people at the airport were screened, not tested. Coronavirus takes time to show symptoms, so they could have entered even after screening.
Q: Why were they allowed to enter India?
A: Because, as per WHO’s recommendation in mid-Jan, India did not impose a travel ban for people entering India. However, it was one of the few countries that cancelled visas and imposed travel bans in very early stages of the spread in the country.
In Jamaat’s even, Maulana Saad has reportedly recommended people to congregate in mosques. Remember, the event was attended by 8,000+ religious preachers, who went ahead and may have spread that knowledge. We have seen many TikTok videos that resemble the same idea.
Also, their members spit on doctors, misbehaved with female healthcare professionals. Policemen were stone pelted and shot at when they went to catch them.
Many have glossed over such incidents and selectively shared the ones which are untrue to paint a picture that those criticizing Jamaat have some kind of conspiracy and Jamaat members are some innocent victims of propaganda.
Heck, they have contributed 34%+ cases of all the COVID-19 cases in the country, and in some states as high as 90% cases. Whopping 2000+ out of 6,000+ overall cases of COVID-19 in India are due to ONE EVENT.
Its true we must not blame everyone from any community for crimes of a few. Its also true that stupidity transcends religion. But, this one event HAS MADE A HUGE DENT in India’s fight against Coronavirus. So, STOP BENDING OVER BACKWARDS TO DEFEND TABLEEGHI JAMAAT.
